Personal Comments:
I view the appointment as Secretary
of Education as one of the most challenging
role of my mission.
Catholic educators must utilize
today's ever expanding technology to
help our youth become learners for life.
Equally important in preparing our youth for
these new iniatives is the corresponding value
of Catholic religious training. Our children
must understand the Gospel message, their role
in the community as Christians, and their obligation
to share their God-given talents with others.
We must prepare our youth to live
their faith in this complex world and,
above all, we must focus on the family
in all religious education.
Our basic goal must be to rekindle
family unity with moral courage so
parents and children can line our Catholic faith
as partners through life's journey.
